Dame d´Afrique :
The Notre-Dame-d'Afrique basilic is one of the minor basilicas of the Catholic
Church. It is located in the municipality of Bologhine, west of Algiers, on a
promontory overlooking the sea at an altitude of 124 m.
It was built by the architect Jean-Eugène Fromageau in the Romano-Byzantine style,
and consecrated on July 2, 1872.
Martyrs’ Memorial :
Martyrs' Memorial is a concrete monument commemorating the Algerian War. The
monument was opened in 1982, on the 20th anniversary of Algeria's independence. It
is fashioned in the shape of three standing palm leaves, which shelter the "Eternal
Flame" under it. At the edge of each palm leaf is a statue of a soldier representing a
stage of Algeria's struggle for independence.
The Jardin d’ Essai :
The Jardin d’ Essai, located in the district of Hamma, is a botanical jewel of more
than 3,000 plant species offering a real breath of fresh air in the heart of Algiers.
